1. How can I adopt an animal?
Once you choose the species you’d like and complete your donation through the platform, you will automatically receive your symbolic adoption certificate via email, as proof of your act of kindness.
2. Am I literally adopting an endangered species? Can I take the animal home?
No, this is a symbolic adoption. By adopting, you help protect the species and its habitat, while inspiring others to do the same. Your donation supports WWF’s conservation programs all over the world.
3. Can I make an adoption as a gift?
Of course. Simply select “Gift” and fill in the recipient’s details to offer a meaningful and unique present.
4. What do I receive with my donation/adoption?
You will receive your symbolic adoption certificate via email. You can print it and display it if you wish. Your donation helps protect the planet and endangered species. The certificate includes your personal message and information about the species you selected.
5. What does the symbolic adoption certificate look like?
The certificate features a photo of the species, a thank-you message from us, and is personalized with your name. If it’s a gift, it will include the recipient’s name and your message. You can view a sample on the platform.
6. When will I receive the certificate?
You decide. Planning a birthday or Christmas gift in advance? Simply select the delivery date. Do you need a last-minute gift? No problem—once your donation is completed, the certificate will be sent to your email right away.
7. Can I also receive the certificate, if I send it as a gift?
Yes. Just contact us and we will send it to your email.
8. I didn’t receive my adoption certificate.
This is rare, but it may happen due to an incorrect email address or spam filtering. Whatever the reason, contact us and we will resend it as soon as possible.
9. Will I receive updates about the species I adopted?
In addition to your certificate, you will receive updates, information, and photos of the adopted animal. We will also keep you informed about our environmental actions, news, achievements, and invitations to events, petitions, and urgent campaigns.
10. How long does the adoption last?
If you choose a one-time donation, it lasts for one year. If you choose a monthly donation, it continues until you decide to cancel it.
11. How can I cancel my donation?
While your support is very important to us, you can cancel at any time by calling +30 210-3314893 or emailing supporters@wwf.gr. For practical reasons, it’s best to inform us within the month of your final donation.
12. Can I request a refund?
Refund requests are rare, but in cases of error (such as duplicate transactions), you can email supporters@wwf.gr to request a refund. Our team will be happy to assist and resolve any issues.
13. Can I cancel the recurring payment directly through my bank?
No. Since the recurring payment is initiated by us, you will need to contact us to cancel it, and we will take care of it promptly.
14. How do you manage my donation?
Threats to wildlife are constantly increasing, and WWF works to address them. Your donation contributes to research and conservation efforts that protect the habitat of the species you choose. You support actions against threats such as illegal hunting, poaching, climate change, and habitat loss. We ensure that at least 75% of our income is directed toward our programs, while keeping administrative, communication, and fundraising costs as low as possible. Our accounts are audited annually, and our financial information is available on our website.
