SAVE OUR FORESTS
Help the injured animals and protect their home.
YOU CAN SAVE OUR FORESTS
Greece is being devastated by wildfires spreading at an unprecedented rate, experiencing some of the worst fires in its history. Thus, we make an urgent appeal for the effective protection of the Greek forests.
Our nature, our culture and the lives of thousands of our fellow human beings have been and continue to be threatened. The wildfires in Evia, Peloponnese, Attica, Fthiotida and on our islands, have burned more than more than 100.000 ha, which is three times more than the average of the last 20 years!
Greece is home to species that don’t live anywhere else on our planet. Among the species that have been threatened by the fires are the red deer of Parnitha, the golden jackal, turtles and other reptiles, and dozens of species of birds, micro-mammals and many more.
The unfolding crisis needs critical attention, and is rooted in the reality of life on a warming planet.
WWF is working in Greece since 30 years and the forest protection has always been a crucial part of our activities. Together with our supporters we have achieved a lot. Now, we need your support to protect our forests, care for injured wildlife and prevent more devastation.
Your generous donation can help the wildlife and forests in time.
• With 30 € you support the work of the voluntary forest protection groups by providing essential items and supporting their better integration in the national forest firefighting system.
• With 50 € you support the care and reintegration of wild animals. We are already providing support to specialized organizations like ANIMA that operate in the fire-affected areas.
• With 100 € you support our advocacy work that includes substantiated proposals to the State in order to proceed to the necessary changes in the forest protection system, as well as the information, awareness and education of thousands of citizens for the importance of the protection of our forests.
• With 200 € you contribute to the assessment of the ecological damage that is caused by the wildfires, in order to ensure that the necessary remedial measures will be taken.
